Popovi Bee Farm is a small family farm that produces small boutique quantities, organic honey and bee products.
Popovi Bee Farm is a small family farm that produces small boutique quantities of organic honey and bee products. It was founded by Grozdan Popov, who started dealing with bees in 1996 as a hobby. In 2003, with several other beekeepers in Bulgaria, they were the first certified beekeepers from Balkanbiosert. After 18 years of hard work, we own 250 hives, from which we produce Acacia, Manov and Polyfloral honey, bee pollen and propolis. Our apiaries are situated/located in two ecologically clean areas, so within a radius of 3 km from the site of the apiaries, the sources of nectar and pollen are mainly organically grown crops and natural vegetation. This contributes to the produced honey and bee products meeting the strict requirements for bio-certified products with exceptional purity. The certificate for organic bee products is valid for the European Union, United Arab Emirates, USA, Canada, England, Japan, Switzerland, etc. Recently, we have an online store where you can buy organic honey and biological bee products directly from us, the producers, at the most affordable prices.
Our bee farm has certificates for organic bee products from the controlling body Balkanbiosert, which is the first national body for control and certification of organic production. It works with well-trained and highly qualified staff and offers quality and affordable services to organic farmers, processors and traders. "Balkan Biocert" is a product of international cooperation aimed at meeting the needs of Bulgarian biological operators.
Bee honey of Popovi farm:
Every apiary in the world is unique in itself and its bee products, which we "steal" from our friends the bees - honey, pollen and propolis. This is because of the diverse plant flora that surrounds them. Around our beekeeping sites there are many acacia and oak forests, linden, ash trees, chestnuts, softwoods, meadows, wild spreading herbs and others. In our boutique types of honey, you can enjoy natural flavors closest to nature.
Acacia honey is the earliest and is very difficult to collect. At this time of the year, the bee colonies come out of the most difficult period for them - winter. In addition, bees have a minimal amount of honey in their hives, and for them this is the first major pasture during which they must collect honey not only for us but also for themselves. Acacia grazing lasts very short - only 10-15 days. This is also the honey with which bees hibernate. The acacia honey of our farm has an almost transparent color, it crystallizes very slowly. It is characterized by a fine and delicate taste and aroma. It is extremely suitable for children due to the low content of pollen, which makes the occurrence of allergies unlikely, even helping to build immunity against allergies. The high fructose content makes it suitable for diabetics by reducing the need for insulin. Acacia honey is suitable during the cold season, and is used to relieve inflammation of the upper respiratory tract.
The polyfloral honey of the Popovi family is collected in June and July after the acacia grazing. During this time of year, a variety of wild herbs bloom in the biological beekeeping area. The herbal honey of the Popovi family is strong in taste, amber in color and has a very intense aroma and taste. You can feel the presence of linden, lavender, thistle and other herbs. We recommend the consumption of herbal honey especially to people under mental stress due to its lavender content. The linden and lavender herbs in it calm the nervous system, and when taken half an hour before going to bed, one falls asleep more easily. Recommended for colds and flu, sore throat, wounds, gastritis. Herbal honey is a natural antioxidant.
Manov The manov honey of our bee farm is a special type of honey that is produced not from flower nectar, but from sweet juice separated from the buds and leaves of the oak tree, called manna or honeydew. That is where the name of honey comes from. Once every few years, under suitable weather conditions, the bees produce it. Manna honey is harvested in summer - July - August, when it is the hottest. Only then does the oak release the honeydew. The bees collect it and make a thick, dark honey with a low water content. It is darker in color than our nectar honey and has a reddish tint. The taste is stronger (slightly bitter), has a very pleasant oak/wood aroma. You can also feel a slight taste of wild thyme or mint in it. Manna honey contains 5 to 9 times more minerals than other types of honey. Manna honey is richer in vitamins and minerals than nectarine honey. It has unique healing properties, which are due to its strong antibacterial effect and its ability to strengthen the immune system. It treats many health problems. Manna honey, like other types of honey, is a source of quick energy and is suitable for intense physical exertion.
